This is the fourth time I have used this type of notebook for a 1 - 2 week self supported kayak expedition in Lake Superior (three in the Apostle Islands, one circumnavigation of Isle Royale). The journal is very well organized. I use the lined sheets to transcribe NOAA weather radio broadcasts every morning and night and the weather calendar to record actual conditions encountered. I use the expedition calendar to record notes (miles, meals, stove fuel, events, etc.) throughout the day, writing sideways and using the entire column for a single day. As the journal is waterproof, I am able to keep it and a pen in my deck bag and take notes whenever appropriate. Among other things, keeping accurate notes allows more astute planning of future trips. (food and fuel consumption notes allow for more precise adjustments, as the meal size is hard to adjust on the fly.)
